Insomniac Approved For Funding To Develop New Las Vegas Events Venue

Insomniac is doubling-down on Las Vegas with a venue of its own. On Tuesday, September 15, the Clark County Commission, sitting as the county’s Redevelopment Agency, voted 6-0 to approve $10 million for the redevelopment of 800 Liberace Avenue, the former Sahara Event Center inside Las Vegas’ Historic Commercial Center.

Insomniac currently leases the building, and the county has been working with the EDC promoter to turn it into a live music and special events venue, according to the agency’s staff report. The $10 million is set aside for a future property purchase and building rehabilitation, and it will be paid out once the board approves a formal agreement with Insomniac. Some nearby residents spoke against the plan at the meeting. Is it going to be another factory town style venue?

A big year in Vegas

The vote follows a busy year for Insomniac in Clark County. In March, commissioners approved the first-ever World Party Parade, which rolled along the Las Vegas Strip on May 14, the night before EDC’s 30th anniversary edition. Days after the festival, Insomniac announced that EDC Las Vegas is expanding to two weekends in 2027, with EDC Dusk running May 14 to 16 and EDC Dawn running May 21 to 23.

Plans for the Liberace Avenue venue

An investment outline included in county records from May lays out the early plan. It describes a main warehouse floor for 18+ live music with a capacity of roughly 5,000, plus a separate 21+ upstairs lounge. It also lists larger outdoor events in the neighboring county-owned parking lot as a priority. The outline notes the layout is subject to change, and no opening date has been announced.

A Factory Town for Vegas

The mix of a warehouse room and outdoor space echoes Factory Town, Insomniac’s Miami-area venue built out of a former mattress factory in Hialeah, with warehouses and open-air space across seven acres. Last October, Pasquale Rotella told EDMTunes he wished he could “duplicate it in Vegas” and Los Angeles. In our interview with Pasquale Rotella, he also called it “a crime to only use it a handful of times a year” and talked about adding permanent infrastructure so local promoters could book the space at lower cost.

The next step is a formal agreement between Insomniac and the county, which the board has to approve before any of the $10 million is paid out. The venue doesn’t have a name or an opening date yet. In the meantime, EDC Las Vegas returns for its first two-weekend run with EDC Dusk on May 14, 2027.
